Hey there folks, I’m happy to have you here today. It’s been a tough week, but you know what they say: when things get difficult, they’re just about to get interesting.
I finally got my DaVinci Resolve key last week. It came in the mail wrapped in an absurd amount of bubble wrap for what is essentially a credit card-sized product key. With this new tool under my belt, it was time to get to denoising the animation. First, I had to whack some of that initial noise off with a quick round of re-rendering (joy). Once that was done, it was time to dive in with a little titanium white... long story short, it came out looking great, and with a few happy little trees along the way.
I mentioned last week that I intended to release what I had once the current scene, the music, and a few animations were done. After some careful consideration and re-reading of the script, I decided I needed to adjust the script to create a more logical ending. I added a few scenes to help the story flow and close out properly. So, of course, the workload grew. I am a little conscious that there won’t be a date night until the next episode, but this episode has a more character-centric focus, and there’s still a lot of story to tell.
The downside of releasing episodically is that I can’t go all in on every aspect of the game every time. If I did, you would be waiting far too long between updates, and I really don’t want that.

Anyway, less yapping, more numbers.
I managed to get 100 renders done this week, taking the total for the episode up to 1,195. I will be focusing on getting more renders done this week and trying to close out this big scene. I am definitely struggling with what we as devs have coined “scene fatigue” (working on the same scene for too long). I also have a lewd animation to get to work on this week.

Oh, shit, I almost forgot! I added a new feature I’ve wanted to include for a while. I worked on adding end screens that will appear at the end of each episode. These will give you a breakdown of where you are in the investigation and provide key information about your relationships with each of the main love interests. I’m really happy with how this feature came out.
Anyway, I have to get back to work before Mister Maya finds the whoopie cushion I left on his desk chair.
Until next time,
Bat
PS. Shout out to Barrabas for helping me out with the wonderful MS paint drawing in the devlog image.
