DEV LOG / EPISODE 3 / WEEK 9

Got to Keep Pushing!

Hold up, it has been a week already. What the hell happened to time recently? It feels like shrinkflation hit the length of days. Still, we ball and we keep pushing out content. I want to start this dev log by saying thanks to the devs I talk to on a daily basis. You guys keep me motivated and pushing to improve. Except you, Maya. Jokes.

So, what did I get done this week?

Animations

I fixed some texture issues with Zoe’s model in Blender and re-rendered some of the animations I had previously made so that she now looks damn near identical to her DAZ model. This was a really important step in keeping visual continuity between DAZ and Blender, or at least narrowing the gap as much as possible.

I also started work on the voice acted scene, and wow, this is going to be a long process. I'm going to keep this cooking in the background while I work on other tasks so it does not slow overall development. That said, this will be tricky as a part-time dev, but who needs sleep anyway. I am really happy with how it is starting to look, and I have shared a small visual sneak peek below.

Renders, baby

I lost about three days this week to animation work, which meant I was lagging a bit on render numbers. Then I remembered, I ain't no bitch and kicked things into high gear. I managed to get 175 renders done, bringing the total for Episode 3 up to 900 renders.

This coming week, I'm going to keep gambling my sanity to maintain momentum. I also have a housewarming party to attend on Saturday, which is usually a big dev day for me, so I was a little gutted about that. Then I remembered it's my best mate, he knows how unhinged I am, and I'm absolutely bringing my laptop with me to get some writing done.

Sure, I will look deeply unapproachable in a room full of people talking about their new cars or how expensive astroturf is, or whatever normal people talk about, but I will get work done. Honestly, that matters more to me.

So wish me luck with both my sanity and the social obligations. If I survive, I will be back here next week to ramble again.

Cheers,
Bat
