Hi guys, I’ll be right with you once I’ve convinced this little guy to tell me where he’s hiding the gold. I found him sneaking around a local convenience store thinking I wouldn’t see through his disguise. You know what, he’s not going anywhere. Hang in there, you sneaky bastard; I’ve got to tell the people what I’ve been up to. Don’t you dare pass out on me.
Let’s start with a rundown of the numbers. I got 161 renders done this week, bringing the episode total up to 1870. I still have some way to go before I can move on to the final animations, music, and everything else, but we are keeping a good pace.
I started designing the set for the next scene, and I am not entirely sure what I am going to do about renders for this one. It might be better to render this scene in Blender since the DAZ assets really did not have what I needed. While I have become accustomed to smashing things together in DAZ to get the look I want, this one was outside what the program can reasonably do. So I decided to build what I have in my head and figure out the rendering side later. I’ll drop some examples below to show what I mean.
IN Daz
Made in BlenderI also dove headfirst into another piece of software to help bring this to life. I wish I could just settle and not chase exactly what I have in mind, but that is not how I work. The atmosphere of an environment is a huge part of storytelling for me, and since I approach everything from a cinematic perspective, I cannot really let that go. So I spent some money on Substance Painter and started learning. I would not be able to follow the vision I have for the game without your support, so it is worth saying again how much that means to me. Making these games is truly a labour of love, and bringing everything together takes time, effort, patience, and a healthy dose of insanity. Without support, it would be very difficult to keep the momentum going.
Substance PainterOne last thing, I have had to remove the demo for Episode One from this page. This is due to some recent community guideline updates, and I want to make sure I stay on the right side of the platform. The demo will remain available on Itch, and I will be adding a demo to Steam once this update is finished.
For the rest of the week, I will be listening to the voices and fighting the urge to generate life itself inside Blender.
Stay sane.
